The LF14000NN is a "Combination" filter, meaning it has two different types of filtration media inside a single canister (Full-Flow and Bypass). This design allows a single filter to do the work that older engines sometimes required two separate filters to handle.

Important Service Details

If you are performing this oil change yourself on a Class 8 truck (Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, etc.), keep these specs in mind:

• Oil Capacity: Most X15/ISX15 engines require between 11 and 14 gallons (42–53 liters) of oil, depending on your specific oil pan (stamped steel vs. aluminum).

• Pre-Filling: It is highly recommended to pre-fill the filter with clean oil before installation. This prevents a "dry start" and ensures oil pressure reaches the bearings immediately.

  • Tip: Pour the oil into the outer holes (the dirty side) so it passes through the filter media before reaching the center engine-bound hole.

• Tightening: Lubricate the gasket with a film of clean oil. Hand-tighten the filter until the gasket contacts the base, then tighten an additional 3/4 to 1 full turn. Over-tightening can make it nearly impossible to remove later.
